This Christmas Season

Last week was very busy doing all of the pre-Christmas preparations. Steve came home from work one night to find the kitchen a mess yet again from my holiday baking and asked me if I was really enjoying the holidays. So in response to his question. Yes. I have been enjoying the holidays a lot this year. There has seemed to be a very prevalent underlying peace. Here's a list of the things that I have loved about this Christmas season and things I don't want to forget.
1. Making a gingerbread house with the boys. They were so excited.
2. Celebrating Grandma Snyder's 90th birthday. All of the family that was around went to a specially catered lunch at the Lamplight. Afterwards we all went out to the Crowley's in Eastland and played cards. It was a lot of fun. Grandma seems to be doing so well.
3. All the snow. As much as I'm sad that our house is at a complete stand still because of the cold and snow, you really can't complain about this area ever recieving moisture. The kids have been dying to go play in the snow but I haven't really let them because they've both had a nighttime cough. So on Saturday we finally bundled up and the whole family went sledding down hills and pulled kids behind the 4-wheelers.
4. The kids finally got to sit on Santa's lap at the childrens play. Parker hopped right up there and asked for a motorcycle. (I'm glad he's consistant!). Bronsen didn't know what to ask for. When we were next in line Bronsen turned to me with panic and said, "Mom, I just don't know what to say!" I asked him if he meant that he didn't know what he wanted for Christmas. He said, "Ya, I don't know what I want, but I know I DON'T want a lump of coal." I told him to just tell Santa he wanted a toy. In the end he told Santa he didn't know what he wanted, so good old Santa told him he could write a letter.
More things I've loved but don't have pictures of. . .
5. I have loved building big fires in the evenings and turning on all the Christmas lights and feeling how cozy the house can be.
6. Parker and Bronsen loved taking out plates of goodies and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. At one house Bronsen was knocking nonstop on the door and Parker was behind him yelling, "Hey guy, get out here. We have snacks for you!" I don't know where he gets it.
7. Christmas music. I always love to listen to Christmas music. I also love to sit and play some gorgeous piano arrangements of Christmas songs that I have. My piano playing time quadruples this time of year.
8. Reading all of the Christmas stories that go around and being reminded of the "Spirit of Christ" that we all celebrate.

Thanks Ginger for that post...you helped me get into the Christmas spirit. I have been a little bah-humbug (sp) lately and now I realize I need to look at the simple things of the season! BTW I loved your Christmas card, thank you. I was a slacker and didn't get too many out this year!

Ginger, I loved this post. Your family is so cute and fun. YOu always have the best stories of little things your boys say and do, they have so much personallity. Merry Christmas

What a great time of year! All the snow has made it so nice. You're post was so fun to read. It's great to recognize those simple pleasures at Christmas time!
