Gearing Up For Disneyland!

Last Saturday morning we woke up at 4:30 am and jumped in our packed van and headed to California!

I was trying to be super prepared! Steve thought I was nuts!

The drive turned out to not be too bad thanks to a new carseat for Sienna and hooking the wii up in the van. Kade only ended up sleeping for 30 minutes during the whole drive. So much for our early morning start where the kids all just sleep, but we still survived!

Once we got to the condos we had a couple of days to kill before hitting Disneyland. We were all about being at Disneyland on the least busy days of the week so that we could avoid lines.

So we did a little swimming, mostly in the hot tub.

Then ate some tacos by the pool. The weather was so nice, not hot, not cold, just perfect.

After church on Sunday we headed out to Huntington Beach

Monday we went to Santa Monica Pier. Zeb chose Bubba Gumps for lunch, and it was delicious!

Everytime we were near a beach we saw dolphins. It was awesome!!

Since Steve's Aunt Marchelle lives right there close we met her for some ice cream/gelatto.

Next day, DISNEYLAND DAY 1!!

Lucky #7

Parker Turned 7 the first of this month. He's very lucky to share his birthday with one of my life heros, my Grandpa Johnson.

Grandpa turned 90 the same day! He was excited to show Parker how many fingers that was.

Ramona made an awesome cake to depict things in his life. It included cattle trucks, ore trucks, a school house, missionary, etc.

Parker felt really bad about not getting a friends party last year. We kept it simple with only a few friends and had an Indiana Jones themed party. Of course you have to have a treasure map. Each item on the map was a different activity. Tug of war and mummy wrap were a couple of them.

And a temple of doom cake to end the party!

2012 in Review

For the last couple of years I have used the first Monday night of the year to recap our previous year as a family. The kids all fill out a paper of the year's bests. Here are a few of the answers from this year:

A Very Merry Late Christmas!

I've been so behind on my blog. But to recap a little of our Christmas season, here's what it consisted of:

Programs: Bronsen performing the piano for the first time in public!

Snow!!

We read the Christmas story out of the Book of Mormon, made a wall for Samuel the Lamanite, then fired our marshmallows at him.

Played lots of games!

Started a new tradition!

Acted out the Nativity!

Played with Cousins!

And were spoiled as usual!!

Someday I'll laugh about this

But not anytime soon. These are the last pictures I got of Sienna with her long hair. As you can tell she had already chopped her bangs again. She is a crazy little girl full of personality.

Well one night I sent her to the bathroom and she found the scissors. My mom says it is all preventative measures. But I disagree. Some kids are not preventable. In my defense the scissors were in the case with the clippers and put up in the closet. Doesn't help with this one . . .

She had three little ponytails in the front of her hair this day. She cut right at the elastics leaving an awesome mullet. I didn't take pictures because I didn't want her thinking any part of this was okay. But I called Kendra for an emergency hair cut and she got these after she took the elastics out. I probably should have got one with the elastics in because it showed just how bad it was, but I just couldn't at the time.

This is the after. Kendra did a good job repairing what she could. Then once I styled it I decided to feather the sides a bit more. This is her new look. The comb over is a must since the middle of her hair got the worst of it. Kendra thought she had used clippers there.

I guess we'll still keep her!

Thanksgiving was a lot of fun this year. We had a fun morning, good dinner (no pictures), and then a relaxing evening. The morning started off with Steve keeping the kids busy while I finished up some pies. That almost always means wrestling.

Then some basketball.

I kind of stopped taking pictures at this point in the day, but the dinner was good and then we relaxed and watched The Grinch with the kids.

Friday we all went skeet shooting.

We discovered that Sagan is a dead eye with the shotgun. (yes I know that's not a shotgun in her hand.)

Then we headed up to the mountain to hunt down some trees. It was such a warm nice day. Lunch was like a spring picnic.

Although I like to cook and love to eat, I have never loved Thanksgiving. But this year I really enjoyed the spirit of the season. We were asked to speak in church the Sunday before on gratitude. I think this helped me really feel grateful for all that I have. I am truly so very blessed.

Kade is 2!

Last month we got to celebrate Kade's second birthday! I had a lot of fun doing his party. I think because he was so excited with every tractor he saw. During the deer hunt we spent a lot of time out at "the farm" and found out that Kade has a serious thing for tractors. He spotted everyone we drove by and played with all of Grandma's all day long. So his theme was easy this year.
